I joined the psychology department at Oakland University in the fall of 2021. I have spent a significant amount of time living in states that begin with the letter "M". I can often be found either lost in thought or laughing a little too loudly.

Carolyn (Carie) Francis
Carie is the project director for an NIH-funded colorectal cancer screening  intervention that aims to increase uptake of at-home screening among African Americans.



Graduate Students

Heba Afaneh
Heba is currently earning her Masters degree in the psychology department. She is contributing to the NIH-funded colorectal cancer screening intervention project. Heba sings with the Oakland University Gold Vibrations a cappella group.

Abiodun (Abey) Akinseye
Abey is currently in the first year of training towards his PhD. He has research interests concern the ways in which medical mistrust contributes to lack of information disclosure between patients and their doctors. Abey is an artist and illustrator of the children’s book “Music in my Head”.

Logan is an undergraduate psychology major volunteering in the lab. He is working on a review of studies examining the relationship between perceived racism/discrimination and health behavior. Logan also owns his own cleaning business!

Jaela is an undergraduate psychology major and pre-med student working in the lab. She is assisting with a review of studies examining the relationship between perceived racism/discrimination and health behavior. Jaela like to sing karaoke.
